Bath show improvements in exciting contest at Cheltenham

Bath started brightly at Cheltenham and probably had the upper hand in the opening exchanges with both sides making errors and the score remained at 0-0 for a long period. Though Cheltenham gained the momentum with three converted tries in the first half to Bath’s one which was Sean Cole scooting in under the sticks for Nick Parks to convert with ease, for a half time score of 18-6 to Cheltenham, but Bath scored first in the second period via Rob Sully so it was game on at 18-10, but unfortunately Parks could not convert, and Cheltenham gained momentum again on the pitch and on the score board but Bath finished with a flourish scoring some well worked tries down the left flank via Ben Shedwick and Connor McPherson which threatened to get them back in the game, but Parks and Cieran Chester missed with the conversions for a final score of 34-18 to Cheltenham.

Plenty to work on in training this week, but the potential in the squad is huge and they have the opportunity to have some fun at Westbury 10s this weekend where the club are hoping to field two teams before getting back into Rugby League action with a West of England League fixture on Saturday 1st June at home to Reading Raiders at Melksham RFC, 2.30pm kick off. Reading had a big 78-6 win against Swindon this week so Bath will need to be on form to compete with the Raiders. The club train on Monday’s currently at Odd Down Sports Centre in Bath at 7pm. Please contact Chris Chatten on Mob: 07810 552196 or email: if you would like to partner/sponsor the club or indeed if you would like to play or get involved with Bath Rugby League in other ways.
