Bath finish season with home win

Bath racked up their highest score of the season with a 106 to 16 victory against local rivals Swindon St. George. The club would like to thank Swindon St George for coming over for the game and battling for the full 80 minutes and genuinely troubling Bath with some of their attacking plays. However, apart from a Swindon try before half time and the period just after half time it was largely one way traffic. Bath showed that on their day they can be a match for any team in the league.

Bath scorers:

Tries: Ben Thyer 6, Cam Taylor 3, Connor McPherson 2, Jake Brookes, Brandon Ball 2, Scott Davis, Hugo Cole, Darrell Thompson 2, Jack Mcloughlin

Goals: Brandon Ball 14

Swindon scorers:

Tries: James Mason, Kieran Harvey, Paul Sidge

Goals: Ben Whincup, Paul Sidge

The season is not finished yet though as the club look forward to playing in the London 9s on Sunday 25th August 2019 the same weekend as the challenge cup final. There is a huge international flavour to the competition this year which should be an exciting prospect for players and fans alike.

A club spokesperson said “We will review how we might be able to increase the playing opportunities for players who want to improve and develop as Rugby League players both now and for next season, if you want to develop as a Rugby League player please get in touch we have an exciting group of players and people.”

Club officials have noticed an increased level of commitment and desire from the squad to play Rugby League this season, notably training twice per week mid season lead by enthusiastic Head Coach Matthew Bodey, while it is unfortunate not to make the finals day which club the did in 2018 beating Cheltenham Phoenix in the Championship Final there is huge potential to build on for the future.

Club officials would also encourage spectators or anyone who would like to watch a live Rugby League game to go along to finals day at Trowbridge RFC on Saturday 3rd August 2019 where the first game will kick off at 1pm, Cheltenham Phoenix v Oxford Cavaliers, the second game kicking off at 3pm Reading Raiders v Somerset Vikings
